Mrs. McCombs was named “Church woman of the Year” by The Charlotte Post in 1982. She was also first runner up in the Charlotte Inter national Woman’s Day “Woman of the Year” contest. She is president of the John McCombs, Jr. Legal Defense Committee; mem ber of the Altha Ti Chi Sorority and is employed as the medical secretary of Dr. Joseph Butler. It’s also a great opportunity for them to get some things checked out before they start on their various ex ercise programs for the summer.” In addition to a main information booth with pamphlets on health issues, the Health Fair will offer free blood pressure checks, dental examinations, a test for sickle cell anemia, and films on various health problems will be shown. Representatives from a number of health agencies will also be on hand with demonstrations, literature, and health examinations. “We’re very excited about this year’s event,” says Mrs. Washington. "We’re anticipating a very good crowd from the over all community.
