To Host “Open Forum” For_ By leresa Simmons Post Managing Editor ■ An—Open- Forum—lor School Board and County Commission candidates will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2600 Beatties Ford Rd. Sponsored by Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the program will feature candidates for the School Board and for County Commission. All of the candidates have been invited to participate in the Forum. The public is urged to attend and secure first-hand information per taining to issues and con cerns. FIRST ASSEMBLY . .For the third year, the music and drama depart ment of First Assembly of God will present the pa geant, “The Witness,” by Jimmy and Carol Owens. “The Witness” is a choral dramatization of the life of Christ as seen, through the eyes of the Apostle Peter. The musical drama, to be held at the First Assem bly of God sanctuary at 2633 Eastway Drive, is be ing directed by the min ister of music, Rev. Jerry L. Thomas. Brown was born in Faliflteld, S.C., and moved to Charlotte about 48 yean ago. She then became a faithful and devoted mem ber of the Gilfield Baptist Church (now University Park Baptist). She was a former member of the White Rose Quartet, Gos pel Choir, The Young Adult Prayer Meeting, Usher Board, Building Fund and the Dramatic Club. She loves and cares for children and has worked for many yean in the University Park Super Summer Program and Play School for children.
