A Walk Down Memory Lane With Faith” Will Be Presented Wednesday
By Teresa Simmons
Post Managing Editor
‘‘A Walk Down Memory
Lane With Faith,” a pa
geant written and directed
by Ametta Dawkins, will
be presented at Walls
Memorial AME Zion
Church, 2722 Bancroft St.,
Wednesday, April 25, at 7
p.m.
Ms. Dawkins' recreation
of the church settings -
Little Hope, Mt. Calvary
AME Zion, Mother Walls
AME Zion, to the present
site - Walls Memorial
AME Zion - is not only a
chance to glance into the
past, but also an impres
sive project for the pre
sent.
It has given the members
of the church, including the
youth, senior citizens and
choirs of the church a
chance to recreate the ori
gins of their church by
acting out its history.
The story begins in a
brush arbor - an open
canopy of branches that
gave protection only from
the sun. This was in 1884 •
100 years ago in the Little
Hope Community.
Participants in the pa
geant will dress in the
attire of the era. Much,
work has gone into reveal
ing the authenticity of the
Hrog~convey«i riming n
pageant.
Perhaps the most impor
tant message of “A Walk
Down Memory Lane With
Faith” is the focus mem
bers place on faith. The
pageant truly strives to
incorporate the theme of
the entire Centennial Cele
brations of Walls: "We’ve
Come This Far By Faith.”
