Church Neux Briefs .* McCullough Tigers To Celebrate Their 34th Anniversary Saturday, May 19 By Teresa Simmons Post Managing Editor May 19 marks the 34lh " pre-anniversary celebra tion of the “McColIough Tigers.” This event will be held at the Mother House of Prayer on Beatties Ford Rd. This religious band of Gastonia was organized in 1950 under the name of “The Grace Baby Band.” The members traveled with Bishop C. M. Grace throughout the United States playing their spiri tual melodies of gospel songs. In 1963 Bishop Walter McCoIIoughrehamedthem the “McColIough Tigers.il-. Today, they are still tra veling coast to coast with Bishop McColIough. They have dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ and have continued to glorify Him with their instruments. This magnificent music al auxiliary consists of 18 musicians including: Elder Gregory Coleman - president; Greg Patton - vice president; Elder John T. Harrison; Willie C. Harrison, Zeb R. Harri son; Elder Robert Pat ton, Jr., John T. Fra zier, Elder Alfred C. Har rison; Wilford Morrison; Gerald Sadler; Charles Praylor; Alonzo Sholtz; Kenny Carr; and Horace Brown, Jr. In_ addition, Greg Will iams, “Eldtf^Jamw^Saa^ ler, Danny Huff, James Sadler, Jr., are also mem bers. Working along with these young men are 11 charm ing young ladies known as the “McCollough Tiger ettes.” They include Janet L. Coleman, Ginger H. Hall, Gloria B. Ross, Mel lissandia D. Gill, Lynell Hawkins, Sharon F. ~Har -rison, Andrea F. Patton, Sharon Carrothers, Yvonne Smith, Mae Pray lor, Maxine Tillman and Mattie Patton. - Spiritually boosting this dynamic group at young men are Elder Robert Patton, Sr. (their pastor), - jfr. and Mra.. 3«rn«t W Harrison, who are the honorary father and mother of the band,. For their annual pro gram, the guest artists will include Apostle Green at New York City and the McCollough Tb underbirds; the McCollough Endurers of Charlotte, The Mighty Clouds of McCollough of Gastonia and Sister Gwen Rouse of Savannah, Ga. STATESVILLE AVE. Statesville Avenue Pres byterian Cburch, 2806 Statesville Ave., observed YoutlT^Sunday recently. The youth of the church were in charge of the morning worship service. Sermonettes were deli vered by Lemuel Turner, Enya Flack, and Annisa Payseur. A special selection was rendered by Lavonette Crawford. Other youth involved were Terry Flack, Joey Taylor and Tommie Grier. Statesville Avenue’s youth were well represent ed at the Presbytery re cently also. Lemuel Turner was the keynote speaker/ Enya Flack and Annisa Payseur were group lead ers. Annisa Payseur was elected as Vice Mode rator of the Youth, while Lemuel Turner was elected as secretary and delegate to the Synod. PTL Home Mii sions Director, Jeff Park, organized the collection and distribution of over five tons of food, supplies, household items, baby clothes, bedding, and fur niture to the Bennetsville and McColl areas of South Carolina ind the Maxton, Red Springs and Pan broke communities in North Carolina.
