This was the first time the Rams have beaten Myers Park in f6ur yearsr “It felt real good,” he said. "Last year,, we were feeling kind of bad because all of our backs were catching leg cramps and couldn't run. We wanted this game badly.” "This is the first time I have been on a team which beat Myers Park,” said the 6’, 170 pounder who broke his wrist last year before the season started. An outstanding junior high player 1 — at Spa ugh Middle School, he was named as the most valuable player on his team. Cauthen, this week’s Charlotte Post ‘Football Player of the Week” for his stirring performance and game-winning touchdown, sakl the defense was excellent in this game with Myers Park. "Defense is very important,” said the running back. “And we have gotten an excellent defense.” Cauthen’s big goal is to get a scholarship at a school with a good football program and to win the state championship in football. “I believe that we are much better in football than most people think, and we have decided to show the conference that we do have a good ‘earn at Harding.” "We are looking forward to our big game Friday at North Mecklen- ’ burg,” he said. “We believe that we can beat the Vikings on their home field.” “I just can't help but remember the feeling that we had after we beat Myers Park," Cauthen said. “We would like to experience that feeling against this season.” j. u. uulncn and the Rams may be on the move in the Southwest ern 4A.
