Dr. MaMe McLean .Barber-Scotia president Wachovia Bank Donates $2,000 To Barber-Scotia Wachovia Bank & Trust Co. has donated $2,000 to Barber-Scotia Col lege, as part of its continuing sup port for the United Negro College Fund. Wachovia city executive Timothy Crist iresented the check recently to Bartx r-Scotia president Dr. Mable McLc in. The donation, Crist said, repre sents the bank’s continuing support for the UN(JF, by way of one of its n member institutions. » He said Wachovia has a strong faith in education and believes Barber-Scotia College makes a worthwhile contribution to the community. “This contribution from Wachovia will provide a decided acceleration toward the goal of Barber-Scotia College,” said McLean. “The gift represents the investment of a new corporation .in a community which. has a very old college as part of its inner life and achievement.” The UNCF, of which Barber Scotia is a part, raises money annuallyforthe operating expense of 42 historically black private colleges and universities. Contributions go toward scholar ship aid, help pay faculty salaries, buy textbooks and equipment, and aid in other aspects of college life. Summer Internships Need a summer job? It is not too early for college students to begin planning for the summer of 1984, especially if they are interested in a state govern ment internship.
