Jmwright’g Fourth Anniversary By Teresa Simmons Pest Maoaging Editor The Fourth Anniversary Celebration for Salem Baptist Church pastor and first lady. Rev. and Mrs. Anthony L. Jinwright, will be held 2:30 pjn. February 17 at the | church, located at 531B Salem Church Rd. Pour years ago Salem church members prayed and fasted, asking God to send an annointed man of God to teach and preach- The prayers were answered in Anthony Jinwright, a young man with a vision. A native of Wilmington and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jinwright of Wilmington, he received his education from New Hanover HS and the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Services New York, New York. He is also a graduate of Hood Theological Seminary, Livingstone College. He also graduated from , Trinity College Seminary and completed studies at CPCC. Rev. Jinwright works in the General Baptist State Convention of NC as chairman of the Evangelism committee, member of the Publica tion Board of the Baptist Informer; and was recently appointed a Board Member of the General Baptist State Convention. . He is married to the former Harriet E. Porter, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter of Charlotte. The Lord has blessed their marriage with a daughter, Antoinette, age two. This little lady is already active in the missionary department, is a soloist with the children’s choir and a servant of God. Mrs. Jinwright is employed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system as a teacher. .She is riMpected as the first lady of Salem because she has proven herself worthy of this title, according to one spokesperson of the church. Rev. Jinwright has a vision for God’s people, continued the church reporter. During his career God has united over one hundred souls to the church family of Salem. Each Sunday his sermons touch the hearts of many and souls are filled and lifted. Rev. Jinwright stated his aim is to “do the work of Him that sendeth while it is yet day, for the night is goo to come when no man |,°n I When asked about the upcoming •PPreciation^day, Rev. The minister in charge will be Rev. H.E. Johnson, pastor of Oak Grove. Gill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Gill. A 1967 graduate of Logan High School in Concord, he is married to Hazel Hampton Gill. They are the parents of three lovely children: Tony, Leslie and LaDon na. Gill is employed at Eckerd Drugs. He has served as chairman of the Trustee Board and as a member of the Usher Board. Presently he is serving as the Devotions Leader, Sunday School teacher, Youth Advi sor and as a member of the Finance Committee of the church. He is also serving as president of the Young Adult Department of the Lane Creek Association. Gill, along with his wife have contributed much love and time with the teenagers at Oak Grove. They have also brought a warm spiritual relationship at Stonewall Jackson Training School in concord. The public is cordially invited to attend this trial sermon. An “Oratorical Contest on Black History Theme” will be held Sunday February 24 at 6:30 p.m. to culminate the month’s observances.
