Show exhibitor, Valerie Brown, is enthusiastic about the upcoming event. "People need to see the latest trends and techniques that will aid them in achieving high, level wellness," she emphasized. Wellness, she noted, is more than the absence of illness. Rather, it is being as fit as possible to deal with the daily routine, as well as protecting the body from the consequences of lack of care. The major areas the show will deal with include exercise (equip ment, shoes and apparel, spas and health clubs, aerobic programs); (diet, weight loss, vitamin supple mentation, nutrition, habit control); mental, emotional and spiritual health (stress reduction, biofeed back, relaxation techniques, coun seling, self-improvement organiza tions); and products, services and businesses (water purification sys tems, restaurants, books, video tapes, insurance companies, and more): There will be a kitchen for cooking healthy foods, and other enjoyable activities. Brown, a distributor of the Dick Gregory Bahamian Dieffor Cemitin America, Inc., explained that the Health and Fitness Show is not just another health fair or trade show. Rather, it is a dynamic, hands-on experience packed full of interest ing, new, and informative exhibits, workshops, and demonstrations. “There will be lots of things to do, see, and sample,” she remarked. She was born two months early weighing two pounds and 11 ounces on July 8, 1983. She was really ready to come into the world and chose as her birthplace Charleston, S.C., instead of Charlotte. Shantell has a mind of her own and knows what she wants...at only 21 months she insists that she is two years old. She retires at 8 each night because she knows a busy day is in store for her at the Howie home, where she spends time while her mother and father work. Her favorite pastime is talking and her favorite food is corn on the cob. Tonya is Shantell’s big sister, a sophomore at Harding High School. They spend many exciting hours together dancing and talking on the telephone. This little angel goes to church at Memorial Presbyterian and recently won first place In the National Council of Negro Women Baby Contest. Her sponsors were Sarah Stroud, Allean Conner and Emma Crawford. (Photo By Teresa Simmons) PUT NEW LIFE IN YOUR CAR!
