Ms. Barbara Richardson, sorority member, introduced Mrs. 4>ash pnd presented the ward. Miss Denise Richards Exchanges Solemn Vows With Angelo Q. Reid Two lives became one as Denise Annette Richard and Angelo Quentin Reid exchanged solemn vows re cently before friends and family. The ceremony, which took place at Johnson C. Smith University Cha- : pel, was officiated by Rev. Thomas Lee and Rev. Evelyn Terry. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Elbert Richard Sr. As her maid of honor, the bride selected her sister, Brenda Richard. Bridesmaids for the wedding were Charlese Chapman, Yolanda Foster, Lisa Harper, Tia Murdock, Vanessa Gladney, Sandra Johnson, Patricia V Welch, Patricia Wallace, and Sheila Cooper of Decatur, Ga. Juniors bridesmaids were Carmen Lee and Tekeshia Lowery of Cor nelius. >' Flower girls were Shayla Richard and Tequilla Welch. The groom selected his father, Gordon Reid, as his best man. Melvin Cathey, O. Chapman Jr., Muriel Reid Jr., Norbert Reid, Tony Reid, Jerry Potts, and Gary Potts of Cornelius, Paul Daye of Durham, and Charles Hinsley of Asheville were the groomsmen. Ushers for the wedding included John Anderson and Malcolm Reid. Acolytes were Patrick Torrence or Cornelius and Elbert Richard III. Music for the ceremony was pro vided by organist Terry Oates and soloists Jerry Oates and Brenda Sullivan. Immediately following the wed ding, a reception was held at Grimes Lounge at the university. Music was furnished by the Michael Porter Trio. The daughter of Mr. Elbert Richard Sr. and the late Mrs. Arlie Mae Richard, the bride is a grad uate' of UNC-Greenkboro. She is presently studying for her master’s Mrs. Angelo Quentin Reid .The former Miss Denise Annette Richard . at UNCC in human development and leamjng and is employed as a caseworker at the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Ser vices. A policeman with the Charlotte' Police Department, the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon K. Reid. He is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University. After a trip to Charleston, the couple will reside in Charlotte. Charlotte Links Install New Officers The Charlotte Chapter of Links, Incorporated met recently at Mc Donald's Cafeteria for its final meet ing of the fiscal year. Four new members were introduced and of ficers for the ’85-’07 biennium were installed. The Links, Inc. is a service or ganisation. The Charlotte Chapter is fully1 involved in the four program facets including focus on the arts, services to youth, and national and international trends and services. *nfe evening’s highlight was the induction of four new members into the local chapter With an impres sive candlelight ceremony pre sided over by Lois H. Byers,- pre sident, and Daisy Stroud, member ship chairperson, the new members proudly became a part of a sister hodH striving to serve mankind in various ways. \ New inductees included Patricia Dowdy, Mary Harper, Thelma Johnson, and Marilyn Olowofoyeku. (Jurrent officers are Lois H. Byers, president, Daisy S. Stroud, vice president, Lois Barnhill, recording secretary, Gertrude i‘ear-son, cor responding secretary, Johnnie Bullock, treasurer, and Elizabeth Randolph, parliamentarian. Following tbe induction of new members, Mrs. Byers installed the officers for ’85-’87 biennium. They include Daisy S. Stroud, president; Anabelle Boykin, vice president; Eva Kennon, recording secretary; Bettye McCain, corresponding se- I cretary ; and Johnnie Bullock, trea surer.
