Church News Briefs Simpson Gillespie’s Annual Revival Services Begin m \ ByJalyneStrong Post Staff Writer All are invited to share in annual revival services at Simpson-GUles pie beginning Moodny, October 14, lasting through Wednesday, October : The visiting minister will be Rev. Belvin J. Jessup, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Winston Salem, N.C. A native of Greens boro, N.C., Rev. Jessup earned degrees from A&T Stole University, Greensboro, N.C., Gammon Theo logical Seminary, and the Interde nominational Center of Atlanta, Ga. , He has held pastorates in Greens boro, Asheboro, High Point, and Chattanooga, Tn. Plus, from 1971 until 1974, Rev. Jessup served as pastor of the St. Marti Methodist Church on Clanton Rd. in Char lotte. In 1974, he was elected to travel and participate In an educational program on “The Living Word and World” seminar in Edenburgh, Scotland, and London, England, by the Continuing Education Commit tee of Western North Carolina Conference. Logan Jr. was formally installed as the fifth pastor of South Tryon Presbyterian Church by a commis sion of Mecklenburg Presbytery. Rev. Logan is a 1978 graduate of Kenyon College in Gam bier, Ohio, where he received his B.A. degree; and a graduate of Princeton Theo logical Seminary, where he was awarded the mastor of divinity de gree. Rev. Logan has been select ed as one of the Outstanding Young Men in America in 1980, included among the International Who’s Who in Community Srevlce in I960 and the International Who’s Who of Intellectuals in 1981. He comes to Charlotte from Norfolk, Vs , where he was pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church and campus minister for Norfolk •tate University. Rev.
