Declares Candidacy
For UJSL Senate
Greenville, NC - Marvin K.
Blount Jr., a local attorney, has
announced that he will formally
declare his candidacy for the De
mocratic nomination for the United
States Senate on November 20 in
Raleigh
Blount will repeat his formal an
nouncement during a series of state
wide events spanning the three
day period from November 20-22.
“After serious consideration, 1
have decided to take this most
significant step,” Blount said.
"This will not be a traditional
campaign,’' he added, “and I look
forward to letting my fellow citi
zens know how this will truly be their
campaign for the United states
Senate ”
A native of Greenville, Blount
received a law degree from Wake
Forest University in IMS.
Four years later he became the
youngest Special Superior Court
Judge in North Carolina history He
resigned from the bench In 1973 to
return to the private practice of law
in Greenville.
His parents also live in Green
ville. Blount is married to the
former Mary Margaret Mitchell of
Goldsboro nr.d has three children
