The National Association of Broadcasters has Jotaod forces with the Caagrestlonal Families for Drag-Free Yooth to produce audio and video public service announcements (PSAs) on the dangers of drug abuse among young people. Each spot features a member of • the Congressional Families urgent ration, spaas ts of Members of Congress. CareUae McMillan, wife of Congressman J. Alex McMillan (R-NC). Is among those who participated In the taping. The project Is another facet of NAS’s ongoing nationwide cnmpatga against alcohol and drug abase. Mrs. McMillan and II other Congressional wives cut the PSAs, with the message "Say No To Drugs,’’ on the steps of the Uncoin Memorial la Washington. The tapes will be Individually distributed by NAB to radio aad tele vision stations in each member's district or state. The spots should be oa-air late November. Congressional Families for Drug-Free Youth is a non-profit, anti abuse group comprised of VS. Senate and Bouse of Representatives' family members. Its rrosliliml is Carolyn Mattingly, wife of Senator Mack Mattingly (R-GA). A separate spot, also taped in Washington, will feature Joyce Nalepka. president. National Fe deration of Parents for Drug-Free Youth, who helped found the Congressional Families group. Nalepka’s anti-drug PSA wtil be distributed to an radio and television stations by NAB. The NAB serves a membership of over 4,500 radio and 880 television stations, including all the major networks. Martin was a graduate of the last Ugh school class at Smith (MM) and a general science major at the unf versity. He earned hi* degree in MM. • . T, last visited Charlotte in MM for hie 50th class reunion. Martin said he noticed “tremen dous” changes in Charlotte, “both pro and con. “Charlotte always has been a pro gressive piece, but it’s gone beyood itself,“ be continued. “The city has made such wonderful strides. I used to know everybody in Charlotte, but I don’t know anybody now, Just a few families.” Martin at one time worked for the Mecklenburg County schools.
