It’s Sew Successful Ellerbe Loves Challenge By A.C. TURNER Post Staff Writer Talent Is one quality that is not optional in the fashion in dustry. A designer has to have a nose for styles that can excite the masses. LaVeme Ellerbe has let her gift of fashion sense work for her. "1 used to sew in the home while I worked at Sears until someone asked me to help out with a fashion show. 1 got a much different response then 1 expected. People were asking me where my shop was and I thought maybe I should have a shop," Ellerbe said. Ellerbe's Fashions Limited .■was bom. Her shop is filled with elegant gowns and chic night attire. Ellerbe said she started out producing her own fashion shows but now she is too busy. "1 have fashion models that I use in other people's shows. 1 Just don’t have time to organize my own anymore," she said. Ellerbe makes slacks, bridal gowns, brides maid's dresses, prom dresses, or any other type of group outfits. The longevity of an outfit Is also Important to her. "I like for the styles to be sim ple but flair enough to make people ask where you got It from," Ellerbe said. "Customers can keep these clothes for a long time because the styles are simple and they stay current." Ellerbe's Fashions Limited does alterations, updating, and modifications on clothing. "Our prices are moderate, not cheap but affordable. Custom ers can't find anything that they would pay for or something that has that special touch they're looking for," Ellerbe said, "Affordability Is one thing that keeps your customers." The store also features ear rings. necklaces, scarves, and stockings to accessorize her original dresses. Ellerbe maintains that she Is In a physically and mentally de manding business.
