2B ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT/The Charlotte Post Thursday, February 1,1996 Sounds BET jams with double CD Continued from IB I’m still waiting for Motown to release “Moving Violation,” “Get It Together” and “Dancing Machine” on CD. Now that would be doing something. Various artists Black Entertainment Television’s 15th Anniversary Music Celebration Mark Pinkus, compilation producer Rhino Records ■ti is Black Entertainment Television has been around since 1980 and music has been a large part of its success. The three highest-rated pro grams “Bobby Jones Gospel,” “Video Gospel” and “Video Soul” are all music based. Much of this CD is culled from frequently-played secular videos. Most of this stuff is easy enough to find on other collec tions because much of it is less than 10 years old. So if you put this on your kids will not look at you funny. There’s lots of stuff to bring back memories - Rick James’ pounding “Give It To Me Baby,” Stevie Wonder’s third- world-based “Master Blaster (Jammin’)” or the Dazz Band’s techno masterpiece “Let It Whip” - but there’s also enough to let you know there’s been some good things done lately. “Luther Vandross’ “Here and Now” arid Vanessa Williams’ “Save The Best For Last” are perfect cases in point. This is a collection that’s actually worth getting.
