There are numerous exhibits at the Afro-American Cultural Center throughout the year that convey where African Americans are and from whence we came, African American Tours is a motorized history lesson, taking patrons on a scenic cruise of the city’s historical and cultural land marks. There are numerous individ uals who have turned docu menting black history into a passionate life’s calling. Africaologist Melodye Micere Stewart lectures frequently about African American and African achievement to stu dents as well as social groups. WBTV reporter Steve Crump uses videotape as his method of communication. He has done several documentaries on Africa, including Charlotte’s sister city of Kumasi, Ghana. His latest work focuses on black photojournalists who were eyewitnesses to the civil rights era.
