Oaklawn minority program
plans open house Oct. 14
The Oaklawn School of
Mathematics, Science and
Technology’s Minority
Achievement Program open
house is set Oct. 14, with
author Ronald Harrill on the
program.
Harrill is author of
"Makeeda, Queen of Sheba,"
which will be available at
$15.
Also on the open house pro
gram are the dance group
S.O.A.R. and Nay Howell,
the Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Schools minority achieve
ment director.
The open house will be
from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
There are 38 minority
achievement students in
grades 3-5 at Oaklawn. The
program includes any
African American, Native
American, Asian or Hispanic
student achieving above
grade level.
Among contributors to the
Oaklawn open house is
Anntony's Caribbean
Restaurant.
