5B RELIGION/S^e ClMtlom Thursday, January 29, 2004 Unconditional love tips aren’t found in magazines Continued from page 8B the man God wants for you if he cheated on you.” Yet we cheat on God every day. We expect God to accept things and forgive our fail ures for our adulterous ways. However our tolerance for infidelity in this cormtiy is low. We are often taught what love is or isn’t hut where’s the abimdance of informa tion that teaches people how to love? After experiencing a per sonal setback I didn’t want to return to that cold rmtrusting person I was for most of my life. In order for that not to happen I had to find a way or guide to show me how to continue to love people even when they don’t love me and found some help. Romans 13: 8-10 says “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has ful filled the law. The command ments, “Do not commit adul tery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet and what ever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself” Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” When I read the fine love does no harm to its neighbor I had to dismiss all the advise I get from friends who say don’t give too much from your heart until you find out if the person is deserving of it. I also began to realize that God says he loves me. He doesn’t promise the world is going to love me. In fact He promises the opposite. How ever, God requires me to love, He calls this command to love the most excellent way. In Corinthians 13: 1-13 “If I speak in the tongues of man and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clang ing cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom aU mysteries and all knowl edge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am noth ing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude it is not self-seek ing, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not dehght in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always pro tects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perse veres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowl edge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfections comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I now in part; then I shall know fully even as I am fully known. And these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Revival conference at Liberty Baptist Church Continued from page 8B its annual 12 Tribe program at 6 p.m. February 9-10 Liberty Baptist Church at 3000 Sam Wilson Road will hold its revival conference at 7 p.m. February 21 Winston-Salem State Uni versity Concert Choir will perform at Friendship Mis sionary Baptist Church at 3301 Beatties Ford Road.
