5B RELIGION/tClt Ciiatlotte $ot Thursday, February 19, 2004 Virginia House affirms Ten Commandments resolution By Justin Bergman THE ASSOCIATED PRESS RICHMOND, Va. - The Virginia House of Delegates passed a resolution Monday urging Congress to allow states to decide whether to display monuments of the Ifen Commandments similar to the one that caused a judi cial stalemate in Alabama. The measure passed 70-30 along party lines after Democrats attempted to kill it by sending it back to com mittee. Del. Robert Brink, D- Arlington, called the resolu tion "an embarrassment to the House, to the General Assembly and to the com monwealth” and accused Republicans of “throwing a little red meat to its political base.” Republicans said the mea sure was necessaiy to pro tect the sovereignty of states when it comes to public expressions of religious faith. Also included in Del. Richard Black’s resolution was the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Motto, which reads “In God we Trust.” “Over recent years, the fed eral courts have begun to issue conflicting. and ambiguous decisions in this area,” said Black, R- Loudotm. Black was referring in part to a federal judge’s order in 2002 to remove a massive granite depiction of the Tfen Commandments from the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery. Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was ousted from his position by a judicial ethics panel in November for defying the order. Since then, two U.S. sena tors have introduced legisla tion drafted with the help of Moore that would prohibit federal courts from overrul ing state courts when it comes to an “acknowledg ment of God.” But Democrats in Rich mond questioned the ratio nale for the Virginia legisla ture to get involved in the controversy. “This resolution isn’t about religion,” Brink said. “It’s about the Constitution, it’s about the rule of law and it’s about politics. This could be called the ‘Justice Roy Moore Memorial Resolution.’ “ ADVERTISEMENT THE PROPHET’S COLUMN INC. 9626 FELDBANK DRIVE CHARLOTTE. NC. 28216-2131 “GOD REPROBATING A SINNER” - PART FOUR J. M. LITTLE - TEACHER Under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, every sinner is taught that God is Sovereign and does not have to save him. Have you ever admitted to the Lord that He does not have to save you? if not, you are not saved! Preach, teach, and evangelize all you want to, but if you have never taken your place in the dust of repentance at the Feet of the Sovereign Lord admitting that He does not have to save you, you are not saved! And all your preaching and teaching will be all the more kindling wood to burn you in hell. No sinner is ever saved until he is brought there; broken at the Feet of the Lord begging for mercy from the Sovereign God who can save him or damn him. Now, you keep saying; “I accepted Jesus as my Saviour." That is the concrete sign you know literally nothing, absolutely nothing about the Sovereign God who saves or damns as He pleases. You have a “god” of your own imagination and when the Blood Avenger drops the sword on you, you will lift up your eyes in hell. You will not call me crazy then. Six times this year, according to my count, a member of my family has told me to shut up. She does not want to hear one word about the Lord Jesus Christ. She has been in the church some 80 years but does not want to hear one word about the Lord. How sad. Is that your case? You are being reprobated if you remain in that condition. Oh, may the Lord have mercy on your poor, lost soul. Now, let’s look at some more Scriptures which clearly set forth God’s Reprobation. “For there are certain men crept in unawares, WHO WERE BEFORE OF OLD ORDAINED TO THIS CONDEMNATION, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lascivious ness. and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord JesUs Christ." (Jude 1:4). Note those words; “Who were of old ORDAINED TO THIS CONDEMNATION." Now, who ordained them to condemnation? Not the angels nor men but God ordained them to condemnation.
