The confer-* ence introduces students to the tradition of leadership throughout U.S. history, while helping them develop their own leadership skills. Ellena, a student at Northridge Middle School, will participate in education al activities and presenta tions led by individuals in high-level positions as well as yoimg people who exer cise leadership skills within their communities. • James Hinsley has been nominated as a United States Achievement Academy National English Award winner. English teacher Sharlene Horton nominated James, an eighth-grader at J.T. Williams Middle School. Nominees must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and exhibit skills and apti tude in English as well as dependability, enthusiasm and leadership. • Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jerri L. Edwards has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Tbxas. During six weeks of Edwards training, Edwards studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies, performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and spe cial training in human rela tions. • Stephanie Noonan has joined MONY Group’s MONY Life Insurance Co. and MONY Securities as a financial professional in Charlotte.
