ADVERTISEMENT FOR RE-BIDS
SOUTHERN GUILFORD HIGH SCHOOL ADDITION
Sealed Bids addressed to the Guilford County Board of Education for the
additions to Southern Guilford High School Addition, 5760 Drake Rqad,
Greensboro. North Carolina. 27406 will be received at the District’s
Purchasing Office at 900 English Road, High Point. NC 27262. Bids will be
received according to the following schedule;
Single Prime Bidders (General Construction) until 3:00 pm Thursday, July
28. 2005.
Notice: The above bids are being .solicited under N.C.G.S.§ 143-128.
The Project consists of approximately 43,000 sq.ft, in two additions at
Southern Guilford High School and approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of
renovated area in the existing structure (if all alternates approved). New
construction features steel framing, steel open web joists, metal decking,
masonry and Gypsum wall board interior walls, masonry veneered and
precast panel exterior walls, aluminum windows and aluminum store front
and built up roofing. HVAC. and electrical lightning. Renovated area will
provide new ceilings and lights in the corridors and two (2) complete
science labs with casework. Site work includes modifications to existing
parking areas, storm drainage lines and the construction of a new entrance
from Drake Road.
A Pre-Bid Conference will be held on July 11. 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the
project site. Questions from the Bidders or their Subcontractors were
clarified at this meeting.
Bid Documents are available and may be examined at the offices of the
Architect. Pinnacle Architecture. P.A.
Qualified Prime Contractors may obtain a set of Construction Documents
for bidding from the Architect upon the deposit of three hundred dollars
(S3(K).0()) - made payable to Guilford County Schools. The full deposit
will be returned to Prime Bidders submitting a bona fide proposal provided
plans and specifications are returned in good usable condition within 10
days after the scheduled bid receipt date and time. After 10 days, the Bid
Document deposit will be forfeited. Refundable deposits are applicable to
Prime Contract Bidders only. All others will be required to purchase any
Bid Documents requested. Contact Pinnacle Architecture. P.A., at 704-847-
9851 for plans and specifications.
Complete plans, specifications and contract documents will also be open for
inspection in the offices of the Associated General Contractors. Carolina
Branch of Greensboro. Raleigh and Charlotte and in the offices of the
Columbia. Greenville and North Charleston. South Carolina; in the offices
of F. W. Dodge Corporation. Greensboro. Raleigh and Charlotte. North
Carolina: and will be placed with Construction Market Data in Charlotte
and Raleigh. MWBE City of Greensboro Plan Room, and Minority
Contractors Resource Center in Charlotte; Triangle Minority Contractors
Plan Room in Durham.; Valley Construction News Roanoke in Roanoke,
and Richmond. Virginia.
All Contractors must have proper license in accordance with state laws
governing their respective trade.s in accordance with General Statutes of
North Carolina Chapter 87. General Statutes of North Carolina Chapter 87
will be observed in receiving and awarding all Contracts.
Bids must be submitted on the standard forms provided by the Architect,
and marked to identify the type of Prime Contract bid. Bidders shall use
complete sets of Bid Documents to prepare Bids. Neither the Owner nor
Architect assumes responsibility for errors or misinterpretations resulting
from the use of incomplete Bid Document sets.
Minority owned and women owned businesses are encouraged to submit
bids for this construction project.' The Guilford County Board of Education
awards public contracts without regard to race, religion, color, creed,
national origin, sex. age or handicapping condition as defined by North
Carolina General Statutes. Section 168A-3.
A Bid Security of five percent (5%) of the bid in cash, cashiers check,
certified check, or a fully executed Bid Bond shall accompany each
proposal, issued separately for each Project. The Owner shall retain the Bid
Security if the successful bidder fails to execute the contract within ten (10)
days after award or fails to give satisfactory surety as required herein.
(General Statutes of North Carolina. Chapter 143, Article 8, Section 129.)
A Payment and a Performance Bond will be required each in the sum equal
to 1009I- of the Contract Sum for each Prime contract in excess of $20,000.
The surety/bonding company must be licensed to do business in the state of
North Carolina (Contractor to include copy of State of North Carolina
Department of Insurance Certificate of Authority).
^jds may not be withdrawn within 60 days after the scheduled bid date and
time, except as provided by law.
The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids, and to
waive informalities.
Award of Bids: The Owner reserves the right as allowed by law to award a
contract to a single prime bidder even if its bid is higher than the combined
low separate bids.
All bidders shall note that the Architect shall answer only questions that are
submitted in writing and faxed or mailed to the Architect's office.
All bidders shall note that no questions will be answered regarding any
' aspect of the project after 5:00 PM. Tuesday July 21. 2005 in order that
the Architect can issue a final addendum, if necessary, to equitably inform
all bidders.

Re-Advertisement For Bids
Sealed bids for CG03-018-Maintenance Facility Upfil will be received at
the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. Owner, the City of Charlotte,
North Carolina, at the Charlolte/Douglas International Airport Field
Maintenance Facility. 3840 Airport Drive, until 2:00 pm (Local Time),
Thursday. July 7. 2005. Immediately thereafter, the bids will be publicly
opened and read.
The Scope of the Work consists of:
A renovation of an existing 9.600 square foot pre-engineered metal building
to be.used as the Charlotte Douglas International Airport Vehicle
Maintenance Facility. Other auxiliary spaces located in adjacent portions of
the existing building, including a Men's Toilet and Electrical Rooms.
Bidders may obtain one complete set of bidding Documents from the office
of Richa Graphics. 204 North Tryon Street Charlotte. NC 28208. 704-331-
9744. Cost is $125. DcKuments will be shipped, if requested, via overnight
carrier with shipping charges collect.
Each bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, or by a certified check
payable to the Treasurer. City of (Charlotte. North Carolina and drawn on
some bank or trust company authorized to do business in the State of North
Carolina, for an amount equal to 59c of the total base bid.
Performance and labor and Material bonds are required.
No bid may be withdrawn for a period of seventy-five (75) days after the
closing time for the receipt of bids. The City of Charlotte reser\ es the right
to reject any and all bids and to waive \iny and all technical defects in the
execution of the submission of any bid.
