m&mm 6B RELIGION/t[$e Ctarlotte $ait Thursday, August 18, 2005 Christian group sues over posters 77/E ASSOCIATED PRESS RICHMOND, Va. -A Christian-rights group on Friday said it has filed a fed eral lawsuit on behalf of a Spanish teacher whose reli gious posters were removed fi*Dm the classroom while he was out sick. The Rutherford Institute is suing the York County School Board, alleging that Tabb High School officials deprived WjlliflTn Lee of his fieedom of speech and equal protection rights last October when they took down the materials. Lee is asking the U.S. Dis trict Court in Norfolk to allow him to rehang the posters, which included one publiciz ing the National Day of Prayer. Lee, who advises the school’s Christian students club, also had displayed news articles about President Bush’s religious faith and for mer Attorney General John Ashcroft’s prayer meetings with his staffers. County Attorney James E. Barnett has said in a letter to The Rutherford Institute that the posters were properly removed because of their “overtly religious nature of the displays and their narrow focus on only a religious point of view.” The four posters were taken down after a parent advocate complained on behalf of the students. Lee said in a tele phone interview Friday that no students or parents had discussed the issue with him. Lee said that all mat^als were used to give “an accurate and complete treatment of Hispanic and pre-Hispanic society,” including the issue of faith. The materials also were posted to publicize the activities of the student club ^ advised, the lawsuit said. Barnett said he plans to dis cuss the specific allegations with school division officials. “There are some circum stances that are appropriate,” he said. “The question is, are they appropriate in the con text of Spanish-language instruction?” Gospel Music Day at Carowinds CHARTER BUSES!! When the Holy Spirit showed me that great truth, it killed me. I was all done. Haywood, I cried out in my heart: “I’ve done everything I know to be saved and nothing has helped. I’ll never listen to any more messages, I’ll never pray again, I’ll never read my Bible again. I’ll just go td'hell where I belong”. Lee, just a few minutes later, there came a revelation to my heart: “Blessed are they which are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb”. (Rev. 19:9) I saw Christ had blessed me from eternity to eternity and I could never perish. It was there that the burden of sin rolled off my back and I was made to rejoice in Christ, the One who died for me. Salvation is the revelation of Christ to your heart as your Lord and’your Saviour! It is always through the Word of God that Christ is revealed to your heart. Not accepting Jesus as Saviour. No! The Lord Jesus Christ does not stand before you to accept or reject Him! You stand before Him for God to save or damn you! God does not have to save any sinner! God is sovereign and owes no sinner anything! I would that you teachers and preachers knew these great truths, but you don’t. In the religious world, you worship a “god” of your own blinded and depraved imagination. You are blinded by the god of this world. (H Cor. 4:3-6) Have you ever seen that you are blinded by the god of this world? If not, you are not saved. You can go on teaching and preaching. But all the while, you are blinded and on the road to hell and don’t know it. It would be the greatest thing in all this world for the Lord to open your hearts now (Acts 16:14) and show you that you are a lost sinner. Before you can be saved, you must be awakened to your lost condition (Lk. 19:10, Eph. 2:1) because you are dead. Every sinner, apart from the awakening of the Spirit of God, is dead. You are preaching and teaching, but you are dead. The Trinity Park Baptist Presents “The Revival of the Summer 2005” Theme: “Wisdom Makes a Difference...” Pmfri>s9:S-i2 August 21, 23-25, 2005 Rev.
