Johnson comes to JCSU from Florida A&M University where he served as the Interim Director of Lower Brasswinds for the FAMU “Marching 100.” Also, he served as a graduate assis tant with the Florida State University Mardiing Chiefs. As the university’s new director of bands, Johnson is responsible for conducting the Golden Bulls marching band, university jazz band, and symphonic band. Also, he will be teaching appHed music courses in music to JCSU students. • The Culture & Heritage Museums of York Coimty S.C., has added Kelvin Arthur Owen Glendening and Julie Vc^es to its staff. Arthur joined the CHM staff on July 6 as the deputy director of finance and administration, "^th over 20 years of accounting and financial experience, Arthur also brings more than sev^ years of senior financial man agement experience in the non-profit industry, having served as \fice President of Finance for the Arts & Scarce Coimcnl of Charlotte, North Carolina and as Assistant Controller of MacNeil-Lehrer Productions, producers of PBS’s ni^tly news show, “The News Hour with Jim Lehrer.” Glendening, the deputy director of interpretation, came to the Culture & Heritage Museums from Munde, Ind, where he was a visiting research fellow at Ball State University Voges is Culture & Heritage Museums’ first human resoimces manager. Vc^es has worked in execu tive recruiting at First Union Bank (Wachovia) and NationsBank (Bank of America) and served as a human resources consultant for a variety of Canadian firms before moving to the Carolinas. • Dr. John G. Johnston, a CJiarlotte pediatridan, was honored by the state’s profes sional pediatric organization for a distinguished mediced career and for promoting access to health care for teens. The N.C. Pediatric Sodety presented Tlie David T. Tayloe Sr. Award for Outstanding Community Service to Johnston during its annual conference in Asheville. “Dr. J” as he is known to both patients and colleagues, is a Charlotte native who graduated from the UNC- Chapel Hill with his under graduate and medical degrees.
