Neb.-A Catholic Charities hindraising evait has decided to play it straight -so the Village Peo ple iiren’t coining to town. The group was scheduled to perform at Irish Fest in March. But Omaha Catholic Charities executive director Scot Adams said that enough people expressed concerns about appropriateness that tlie band was canceled. A lot of people were worried about the band’s homoerotic lyrics, Adams said Adams and others reviewed some of the band’s lyrics before making a final ded- sion, he said. The Family Stone Experi ence, which includes mem bers of the 19708 psychedelic funk band Sly and the Fami ly Stone, has been hired as a replacement Adams said he’s aware of reported drug use in Family Stone Experience, but the band better fits the event’s themes. “We realize not everything a band does is perfect,” he said. “We’re not looking for some one on the merits of their life8t>de” No apology from HI. pharmacist Continued from page 7B anotlier pharmacist must be available there to fill it. TVacy Fischman, vice presi dent for public policy at Plaiuied Parenthood in the Chicago area, said the rule has airbed what she said was frequent refusal by pharma cists to fill prescriptions for emergency contraception. “We do believe that it’s absolutely critical that phar macies have systems that ensure tliat women can get prescriptions filled without discrimination and without delay That is what this rule does.” she said. Last month, Deerfield, HI - based Walgreen asked its pharmacists to pledge in vMiting to fill such prescrip tions. The company suspend ed Quayle and three col leagues on Nov. 28 when they refused to sign. One of those pharmacists later agreed to dispense the contraceptives and has since returned to work, Walgreen spokeswoman Tlffani Bruce said the compa ny had no choice but to disci pline the pharmacists because violating the rule could jeopardize the licenses of the pharmacies where they worked and of the sites’ chief pharmacists TTie American Center for Law and Justice, a public- interest group founded by evangelist Pat Robertson, has taken up the case of the three who were suspended. In a recent filing with the Equal Employment Opportunity T7 Commission in St. Louis, the Washington DC.-based group accused Walgreen of religious discrimination by “effectively firing* the phar macists. The ACLJ has said a state or federal lawsuit is likely if Walgreen doesn’t reinstate the pharmacists. Several law suits have been filed on behalf of pharmacists and pharmacy owners who oppose the rule. "I like helping people. But Fm not there to kill anybody, and I won't do it.” Quayie believes his refusal to follow the rule is protected by the Illinois Health Care Right of Conscience Act, which he says protects work ers fix)m being forced to act contrary to their conscience. ‘Tf the Ri^t of Cbnsdence law means nothing and reli gious beliefs mean nothing, we’re in a lot of trouble,” said Quayle, who is looking for a new job. Blagojevich spokeswoman Abby Ottenhoff said the “right of conscience does not apply to pharmacists.” "In general, the aim was to give medical professionals who may be in a position to perform an abortion the ri^t to abstain fi^m doing so. We fully support that right, but a pharmacist is not asked to perform abortions. He’s asked to fill prescriptions,” she said. Pharmacies don’t have to comply with the state rule if they don't stock any contra ceptives. NC 28216-2131 December, 2005 Newsletter - Part IV (Last Part) J.M. Little, Teacher Friends, God's people are a peculiar people and you are going to come out of all idolatry before God saves you. Put that in your cigarette and smoke it. I never taught my children to observe or have any part in this idolatry. I taught them the truth about it. They are all grown now and will have to answer before the Lord, We are^to teach our children the Word of God. Where can you go today to find someone trying to mold their lives after the Word of God? You young folks are molding your lives after the ball games, worldly music or something else in the world. Ail the while not knowing that hell from beneath is moving to meet you at your coming. That's right. While you are clicking your heels and having a high-heel time, the Blood Avenger is standing over you with the sword drawn, just waiting to plunge that sword into you, and youll wake up in hell! I'm warning you. You are a creature bom for eternity. Your soul and spirit and body are going to live in eternity forever. You never think about it, do you? But soon you are going to taste of these eternal realities I'm warning you about. Your life here, young man, is just a vapor. And if you die in your present state, itil just be one more face in hell. Some of you here are concerned about the eternal destiny of your souls. The Lord in His great grace gave you that concern. Years ago, you vyere not concerned. Didn't want to listen. But now, you want Christ. Praise the Lord. Look to Christ! Plead the precious Blood of Christ. You have been sanctified on the terms of the Blood of Christ. I want to make a statement here and now, and if anyone disagrees with me, I want you to write me and we'll discuss It: "Before a sinner can be dealt with for salvation, that is, the Holy Spirit opening your heart, the sinner first has to be sanctified on the terms of the Blood of Christ." If you don't agree with that, let's discuss it. I praise the Lord for setting me apart on the terms of the Biood. And oh, it is so amazing that the Lord would call me while passing others by. I don't understand it, Bro. Gamble. Why should the Lord call J.M. Little? The worst sinner who ever lived on this earth. I just don't understand it. But I praise the Lord for calling me and justifying me. Your Gospel Editor and Teacher, J.M. Uttle Jfirjit jfHt.
