University I Lide Aisha Lide has been named a Collegiate AU-Am^can Scholar by the United State Achievement Academy Lide, a Harding Hi^ School graduate and senior at Johnson C. University was selected based on a minimum grade point average of 3,3 and ncomnation by a JCSU official or qualified sponsor. lide’s recognition will appear in the Collegiate All-American Yearbook, a national publication. Joyce Freeman, executive director of Loving Tbuch Adult Day Health Care C^ter, was pre sented a certificate of appreciation by the Mecklenburg Covmty Department of Social Services. ■ Loving Tbuch provides organized programs of services and activities in a group setting for hand icapped and disabled adults. The certificate was for Lovir^ Tbuch’s support of the Work First employment services prc^am. • Jennifer Heath was one of 451 students to graduate Davidson College last month. A graduate of Independ^ce High School, Heath J. Freeman earned a degree in anthropology Her extracurric- ■ ular activities incltided membership in the Black Stud^t Coahtion and Afiican Student Coalition, She was named to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. * Bobby Bienaimee and Brittany Sumpter of Johnson C. Smith University were named to the Central Intercoll^ate Athletic Association Bienaimee All-Academic second team. ■ Bienaimee, a computer ei^ineeiir^ major and basketball player, graduated in May with a 3.82 grade point average, earned the Coca-Cola Academic Award as the senior with the highest grade pc'int averse. He also earned the Fluor Foundation Scholarship for compute: engineer- ing with a GPA of at least 3.0. Sumpter, a junior basketball player, was named all-CIAA and aU-toumament. A communications arts major, Sumpter has a 3.5 GPA and is a reporter on JCSU’s student newspaper. • Toni Freeman has been elected treasurer of the Executive Committee of the Association of Junior Leagues International. Freeman, director of project research and evaluation at the Duke Endowment, is a past president of the Junior League of Charlotte, which she joined in 1993. She has held positions on both the Nominating Committees for the Association of Junior Leagues Sumpter T. Freeman International and Junior League of Charlotte. • Darnell McKenzie wfil attend the Presidential Classroom Entrepreneurship and Global Business Program next month in Washington.
