Extra Copies Available
Requests for extra copies of
The Chowanian for any given
issue will be filled if made in
advance of publication.
Requests should be made to
the circulation managers or
other staff members.
EACH YEAR, at mid-term, new staff members are
elected to direct and promote The Chowanian for the
following two semesters. Election of freshmen staffers
at mid-term assures a carry-over through the first
semester of the following year.
Three of the old staff members (sophomores) were
appointed as student advisors. They are Audrey Mar-
riner, Raymond James and John Griffin. During the
last semester of the 1958-59 term, as well as the first
semester of 1959 60, Raymond James and Wayne Alford
put in many extra hours working on The Chowanian.
Other retiring staffers are also commended for the
parts played by them in making this newspaper a
creditable publication. The many letters of commenda
tion from numerous sources testify to the good work
of these student staffers on The Chowanian.
The college newspaper is not only distributed
among the faculty, staff and students here, but more
than 1000 copies go out to college presidents, ministers,
and others, carrying news of Chowan College in words
and pictures. Consequently this extra-curricular work
of The Chowanian staffers plays an important part in
public relations—publicizing Chowan College very favor
ably.
