Crowded Conditions Experienced In Greene Science Building (Continued from Page 3) oratories is the only answer to this problem. In addition, the laboratories are for three hours, which means that too many laboratory sections eat away the time which could be allotted to the one-hour courses offered in the other departments. During this Fall, the Department Is offering courses in 17 different sub jects. There are a total of 45 lecture sections and 29 laboratory sections consisting of three hours each. In all, there are 6,327 student contact hours made each week. This coming Spring, two additional courses must be offer ed—Chemistry 173 for nurses which consists of three lecture and three laboratory hours a week, and Medical Biology 123 which is a three hour lec ture course for medical secretary and pre-optometry students. Even with the crowded conditions, we believe the students profit im measurably from their courses in the department. Each course in a sciencc or in mathematics greatly enhances their appreciation of the world around them. The immensity of the universe, the immutable laws which control it, from the infinitesimal to the infinite, cannot help convincing them that the guiding hand of a Supreme Being is surely behind it all. The department is made up of dedicated individuals who are ever alert to learn new con cepts and pass them on to their stud ents. Their greatest need is more space in which to have more personal relationship with their students.
