New President of College Group A t Planning Conference In his first official function as newly-elected president of the North Carolina Foundation of Church-Related Colleges, Chowan’s president, Dr. Bruce E. Whitaker, center, brought remarks at the fall luncheon held recently at the Hilton Inn in Winston-Salem. The principal speaker was the Honorable Edwin Gill, left, treasurer of the State of North Carolina, introduced by Archie K. Davis, chairman of the foundation and chairman of the Board of Wachovia Bank and Trust Company. Chowan College advisor from Suffolk, Dr. Morrison Smither, talks with professor of religion, Rowland Pruette, at the recent Seventh Annual Planning Conference held at the private, church-related, two- year college. New Students Welcomed By Church One of the most popular places on campus during the arrival of students in August was the lemonade stand operated by the young people and their leaders of Mur freesboro Baptist Church.
