THE CHOWANIAN The World of Color Meredith Kennedy, a Chowan graduate, is pictured at left operating a high-speed photocomposition machine in the Chowan College School of Graphic Arts. The machine is used to “set” type photographically for offset production. The photograph is reproduced here by a new method in the printing school since a new printing unit was installed on the web offset press. The color photograph was “separated” into its primary colors, and this sheet of paper passed through three printing units which print the yellow, blue, red and black colors and thus ending with a full-color picture. The Governor Visits Chowan Governor Robert Scott of North Carolina greeted many students and faculty during his recent visit to the campus to speak at the Founder’s Day celebration. It was very appropriate to have the young Governor deliver the ad dress, since his father, the late Kerr Scott, was the key speaker for the college’s re-opening in 1949 while he served his state as Governor. k PAGE SIXTEEN THE CHOWANIAN
