Five Return to Board To Serve Another Term Five members, E. L. Hollowell, N. 0. McDowell, J. Guy Revelle, C. Ur- bin Rogers, and Dewey W. Wells, have served previously on the Board of Trustees and have returned for another term of service. C. Urbin Rogers . . . Williamston C. URBIN ROGERS C. Urbin Rogers of Williamston is serving his third term as a member of the Board of Trustees. He is an alumnus of North Carolina State University, where he ma jored in business administration. His business interests include farming and Rogers Tobacco Warehouse. Rogers is serving as chairman of the Mar tin County Committee of the Coastal Plain Water and Soil Conservation District. He is a member of the Board of the Williamston Housing Authority and is a charter member of the Lions Club. Rogers served as a member, including two years as chairman, of the Martin Coun ty Board of Education from 1953-1959. He also served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors of Branch Banking E. L. Hollowell . . . Edenton E.L. Hollowell of Edenton is president and chairman of the Board of Chowan Veneer Co., Inc. He is serving his third term as a Chowan trustee and is past chairman of Chowan’s Board of Trustees. He has also served as a member of Chowan’s Board of Advisors and as chairman of the Ac complishing Our Mission Campaign to con struct the new $2.5 million gymnasium- physical education center. Active in community affairs, Hollowell is chairman of the White Cane Drive of the Edenton Lions Club, member of the Chowan County Medical Development Authority, and member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of North Carohna, N.A. Edenton. The Edenton native has also served as president of the Edenton Lions Club and deputy district governor for 31J Lions; chairman of the Edenton Planning Board; chairman of the Chowan County Democratic Executive Committee; chair man of the Chowan County Election Board; commander of the Edward G. Bond Post two times; and member of the Board of Directors of the Governor Moorehead School in Raleigh. A member of Edenton Baptist Church, he is serving as his church’s representative on a steering committee with six other chur ches for placement of the disadvantaged. and Trust before retiring from the Board in 1978. He is a member of the Board of Deacons at Memorial Baptist Church, where he serv ed from 1945-1960 as Sunday School superintendent. Rogers is married to the former Frances Morris of Goldsboro and they have one son, John Morris Rogers. Dewey Wells . . . Camden Dewey Wells of Camden has served three previous terms on Chowan’s Board of Trustees. A graduate of Wake Forest University with the B.S. and LL.B, he is an attorney at law with the firm of LeRoy, Wells, Shaw, Homthal, Riley and Shearin in Elizabeth City. Wells is past president of the Elizabeth City Rotary Club and Pasquotank United Fund, and past chairman of te Albemarle District, Boy Scouts of America. He is a member of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and Elizabeth City Board, Wachovia Bank and Trust Co., N.A. A member of First Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, Wells is president-elect of the North Carolina Bar Association. He has received the Siver Beaver award from the Boy Scouts of America. Wells has served as chairman of the Executive Committee of Chowan’s Board of Trustees. Wells and his wife, the former Ann Dixon, are both natives of Henderson. They have five children, Robert, 24; Betty, 22; Dan, 18; and Brady and Jeffrey, 14. N. O. (Speck) McDowell, Jr. . . . Scotland Neck N. 0. (Speck) McDowell, Jr. is a native of Scotland Neck where he is owner of Mc Dowell’s Pharmacy. He holds the B.S, from the School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina. He was in the U. S. Navy Medical Corps during World War IL McDowell has served one previous term on the college’s Board of Advisors. His great grandfather was Dr. Archibald McDowell, Chowan’s first president. His great aunt was Eunice McDowell, Dr. McDowell’s daughter who served on Chowan’s faculty and staff. McDowell’s community service includes member of the Board of Commissioners, finance officer and mayor pro tem of Scotland Neck; chairman of the Halifax Countv Zoning Board of Adjustment; member of the City Board of Branch Bank and Trust Co.; and director of the Scotland Neck Development Corporation. DEWEY WELLS N. 0. (SPECK) McDOWELL, JR. He is a member of the Scotland Neck First Baptist Church where he is manager of the Cemetery Endowment Fund. He has also served as chairman of the Board of Trustees, member of the Board of Deacons, and Sunday School teacher. The Chowan trustee is active in professional organizations serving as a member of the North Carolina Phar maceutical Association and pharmacy consultant for nursing homes and hospitals. He is a former member of the N. C. State Board of Pharmacy. He holds membership in the N.C. Academy of Pharmacy and honorary membership in the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. He received the certificate of merit from the N.C. Board of Pharmacy. He and his wife, the former Kay Hodgson of Binghampton, N.V., have three children. Thomas McDowell is executive director of the Raleigh-Durham Airport; Lynn Mc Dowell is territorial manager, Economics Lab, Atlanta, Ga.; and Joe McDowell is a fourth year student in the UNC School of Pharmacy. J. Guy Revelle, Jr. ... Murfreesboro J. Guy Revelle, Jr. is practicing law with the firm of Revelle, Burleson, Lee & Revelle in Murfreesboro. He is a B.A. magna cum laude graduate of Wake Forest College and a Juris Doctor cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University Law School This is Revelle’s third term as a Chowan trustee. He has served for a number of years on the Executive Committee of Chowan’s Board of Trustees including three years as chairman. E. L. HOLLOWELL Hollowell has been honored twice for his work with the hiring of the handicap in North Carolina. He received an award from Gov. Dan Moore in 1965 and the American Legion State Award for hiring the handicap and older worker in 1973. He is married to the former Agnes Hare of Chowan County and they have one daughter, Mrs. DeAnna Hollowell Darnell. J. GUY REVELLE, JR. He is general counsel for Chowan College and the Roanoke-Chowan Technical In stitute. He is also county attorney for Hert ford County and attorney for the Hertford County Board of Education. Revelle is active in the Wake Forest University National Alumni Association, having served on the Alumni Council from 1968-1974 and as national president during 1972-73. The Conway native is serving as a member of the Historic Murfreesboro Com mission. He is a member and past president of the Murfreesboro Rotary Club. Revelle is a Sunday School teacher and deacon at Murfreesboro Baptist Church. His service includes two years as chairman of the Board of Deacons. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa; Omicron Delta Kappa; Phi Delta Phi, legal fraternity; and Kappa Alpha Order, social fraternity (province commander of Smith Province since September, 1977). Revelle is concilor for the North Carolina State Bar and has served as secretary of the Sixth Judicial District Bar. He is also a member of the Hertford County Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He and his wife, the former Gertrude Johnson of Burlington, have two children; Helen Gertrude Revelle, 20; and James Guy Revelle, III, 13. His father, State Rep.
