Thomas Coulkins. postor of Murfreesboro Boptist Church during the Foculty- Staff Workshop. Eferngi God. our Father, Thou who art ever leading us on our journey to the Promised Land: We turn to Thee at this time of new beginning with anx- /•fy and trembling for we are aware of the awesome nature of our task and our incompleteness and inade quacy. Help us to move beyond our weaknesses and offer opportunity for students to grow in fullness and strength. We turn to Thee aware of the difficulties of teaching in such a manner that students will be filled with a sense of challenge and vision. Help us to open to them the wonder of life and the joy of the questing spirit Help us to be aware that the purpose of life is not the accumulation of wealth and power, but serving Thee and Thy children. Help us, also, to so lose ourselves in service to Thee and this institution that we find life for ourselves and for Chowan College. May we. through the surrender of ourselves to the educational process, direct the footsteps of Inquiring students on their journey toward enlighten ment and service. And, O God. let us not forgef fhe many facets and peo ple of Chowan College which moke the educational pro cess possible in this setting: from the kitchen to the ad- ministratiye offices; from the maintainance and janitorial service to the class room; from the athletic field to the library; and from the campus to the larger community. May we all sense our importance as together we seek to serve Thee within the educational environment. May Thy blessings be with these Thy people as they go from this place to their duties and responsibilities for this new year. Through Jesus Chrisf. our Lord. Amen.
