The Braves will have experience in every weight class from 134 pounds up and will look to im prove upon their third place finish in the Mid-Atlantic conference last season. Leading off the lineup of sophomores will be Dwane Partman. Dwane is the slickest wrestler in the practice room and should be a tough competitor this season. Brian Lloyd (142) was a 13-7-2.winner last season and was undefeated in the second semester. At 150, Kevin Riggins returns with his patented granby system. Kevin has been working out hard in pre-season and will pro vide constant leadership in the middle weights. Dudley Nesbitt comes off a redshirt year to wrestle in the 158 pound class for the Braves. He is a remarkable athlete and should provide excitement in his class. At 167, Mike Thomas comes back as the only returning place winner in the National Tournament. Mike will be looking to capture his second Mid-Atlantic Championship and continue his All-American status. At 177, Scott Gregory comes off a redshirt year and should be very strong with his up- perbody series. At 190, Curtis Thompson returns to pro vide a large amount of spirit and hustle. At heavyweight, the Braves will rely on Ed McCoy, who finished third last season in the conference, and will be working to cap ture a ticket to the natinal competition. Coach Colin Steele is optimistic for the ’82-83 season, saying “our lightweights look strong but inexperienced. We have lots of depth which should provide great competi tion in the practice room. The freshmen look tough and perhaps four or five will crack the starting lineup. Hopefully, they will gain ex perience quickly to give the team a banner season.” Volleyball Squad Takes Runner-up Slot The women's volleyball teom finished wi th * runner-up honors in the Region X Tour- noment held in Spartanburg last month. The girls dropped the first round and were forc ed to play five matches the following day, before falling in the finals to the host team.
