E. R. Evans, Jr., named to post with Advisors : Edward Robert Evans, Jr., has KcenUy been appointed to the Board of Advisors, according to President Bruce E. Whitaker. . Evans is a lifetime resident of Ahoskie and a member of the Ahoskie United Metiiodist Church. He attended Staunton Military Academy, Campbell University and the University of Nortt Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the past he has been involved in the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Hertford County Tobacco Commission and the Ahoskie Downtown Development Committee. Evans is married to the former Sandra Hopkins and has two daughters: Deda Evans Williford of Ahoskie, and Stacy Dianna Evans of Chapel Hill. PresMeiit of Company i Evans is the president of E. R. Evans and Sons, Inc. whose holdings include a large amount of farm acreage in Hertford County and various other pieces of com- .mercial real estate. He is also president of Coastal Concrete Company, Inc., which has eight iplants in operation throughout ;eastem North Carolina. Active in Community Affairs Evans has long been active in area civic and professional organizations. He serves on the Board of Trustees for Wachovia Bank and the Ahoskie Highway Conymission. He is a 33rd degree Mason, a member ol the Sudan Temple Shrine, and an Honorary tCentucky Colonel. CHOWAN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHARE Dawn Tyler is a Chowan College student from Ahoskie, N. C. In addition to her studies and cam pus activities, Dawn also works parttime in the Of fice of Counseling and Career Development. Dawn is one of 455 Chowan students who work up to 20 hours per week to help pay for their college education. Without this financial aid, many of these students would not be able to re main in college. Chowan is pleased to provide and help pay for the work of students who take this kind of in itiative. Each year, Chowan pays thousands of dollars from its operating budget to students needing financial aid. Chowan must look to its friends for help.
