Students win typing honors
Chowan business students, Lisa
Marie Sipley of Vergennes, Vt. and
Carolyn Ann Spicer of Richmond,
Va., were honored recently with
Gregg awards on the basis of their
performance on the Official Gregg
Typing Speed Tests.
The tests are part of the national
Gregg Tests and Awards Program
published by the Gregg Division of
the McGraw-Hill Book Company.
They measure each student’s abili
ty to type straight copy rapidly and
accurately.
Thousands of Gregg awards in
typing are presented to students
each year. Teachers across' the
country profit by using the pro
gram to build marketable skills for
their students while motivating
them to higher achievement.
Award-winning students also
receive certificates attesting to
their superior skills.
Typing speed and accuracy are
as crucial as ever in the modem of
fice. Typing speed has always been
an important factor in the selection
of secretarial candidates. With the
advent of word processing, skilled
typists are increasingly in de
mand. Students who have earned
Gregg awards in typing speed have
distinguished themselves by prov
ing their ability to type rapidly and
accurately. This skill is bound to be
generously rewarded in the
business world.
