President Bruce E. Whitaker shares one of the
proudest moments of his 32-year administration
with two key volunteer leaders, Robert Spivey, of
Windsor, left, outgoing trustee chairman, and
Thomas McCrary of Raleigh, new chairman.
They are reviewing the Mission Excellence
campaign totals prior to announcing the $4
million goal has been exceeded by more than
$600,000. The trustees and advisors voted to
extend the goal to $5 million by June 30, the date
of Dr. Whitaker’s retirement. Spivey is chairman
of the Mission Excellence drive. (See story on
