The King and Queen of Spring, Daron Heggie, of Apex, andlna Briscoe, of Raleigh, were
honored at Spring Festival. Mrs. Esther A. Whitaker participated in the coronation
ceremony and crowned the King and Prince of Spring.

Ina Briscoe, of Raleigh, and Daron Heggie, of Apex, were crowned
Chowan College’s queen and king of spring during Spring Festival April
22 highlighted by the return of alumni for class reunions and concert by
the college band and choir.
Chowan President Bruce E. Whitaker participated in the ceremony
honoring the queen and princess, Gena Salmon of Lillington. Mrs. Esther
Whitaker presented the crowns to the king and prince, Kevin Croom of
Carrsboro. Briscoe and Heggie served as the escorts for each other.

Kevin Croom, of Carrsboro, and Gena Salmon, of Lillington, were selected the Spring
Festival prince and princess.
Crown bearers were Suzanna Mari Hare, Lee Hawkins Britt, Robert
Thomas Appenzeller, and Andrew Eugene Carter.
Janelle Greene, class of 1961, was elected president of the Alumni
Association.
Art and photography exhibits were viewed in Green Hall and Horner
Hall respectively.
