ANDREWS CHURCH (Continued From Page One.? :i churches - ' Jas. McQueen died while pastor of St. Andrews and is now taking his last long sleep in the church cemetery. The congregation showed their apprecia tion of services rendered by Mr. Me Queen as pastor by presenting him with a tract of land near the church. - This land is still owned by the Mc Queen heirs and the dwelling in which . a fine family of children , were bon and reared still stands. Like man; other families in that section th< children have grown to manhood anc womanhood and are now living ii other states. Mrs. Albert Bledsoe, oi Decatur, Abu, who, before her mar riage was M'es Nettie McQueen, re cently visited the old home place anc tiie church of her childhood fen the tint time in 30 years. Othei members of the fam3y occasionally pay a visit to the old home, and church in which they received their early Christian training. j&j The ctemetery was started about the time the church was built. Many o: the markers in this cemetery bear ok Scotch names. The dates on some oi these markers show that the peoph -who are buried there were among the early Scotch settlers. Mr. J. J. Ed wards, who is well informed on ioea history, informs The Express that a brother of CoL Alfred,M. Waddell was buried in the St. Andrews ceme *ery. He moved from this section t> Mississippi years ago and became i wealthy planter. In his old age he de ddftd to return to his native State, sad ‘ was taken? sick and died on the way. His remans were brought to St. An drews fof interment. In his day and time Col.'Alfred M. Waddell, who ’ moved frsm this section to Wilming ton, became prominent in politics and i represented the Third Congressional i district in Congress.
