Lee Thomas, and again received Wednes day afternoon at the reception given Yrer’Ktft. and T. J. Brooks. On Wednesday Sirs. George Grant, of Fayetteville, gave a beautiful lun cheon in her honor at the Cotton Bowl, the guests being right close friends. Thursday has two events in honor of bliss McCracken. At four o’clock in the afternoon Mias Mildred Sin clair will give a party at her home in iftayetteville and at right.o'clock in' the evening Mm. Frank Clegg, Mrs. Benton Stacey and Miss Kffie Crab tree will entertain at the home at Mrs Clegg in Sanford. Friday afternoon. '• Elaborately beautiful in decoration and detail was the large reception given Wednesday afternoon by Mes dames EL D. apd T. C. Nall and T. J. Brooks at the home of Mrs. E. D. Nall honoring their guest, Mrs. Clarence Nall, of New York City, The spacious lower floor of the hos pitable home was en suite for the oc-1 caaion and lavishly decorated in gar den flowers with a massing of stately I pines in the hah. The dining room' table was covered with a lace cloth and centered by a tall mound of ver bena, phlox, daisies, and lilies, while near the edge of the table ran an ex quisite border of pansies, verbena, phlox, and delicate fern. Four tall Ivory tapers in silver holders at the four corners completed the table en semble or rare beauty. The guests were greeted at the door by Mrs. Frank, C. Hawkins and pre sented to the receiving lino by Mrs. D. B. Teague. The line formed in the living room and was composed of Mrs, E. D. Nall, in blue lace; Mra. Clarence Nall, to green chiffon; Mrs. T. J. Brooks, in green crepe; Mrs. T. C. Nall, in powder bine lace; Mrs. j, K. Perry, of New York City, to red and white organza; Miss Josephine MeCracken, to pink chiffon; Miss Julia Chaffin, in pale blue imported tissue; and Miss Agnes Byrd, in pink chiffon. Sctot, and to Mrs, Johnson the hostess also pre sented dainty handkerchiefs. . An elaborate salad coarse with iced tea followed by peach ice cream, and cake was served. ' < Wesley Bible Class. A pounding eras planned for a needy family. j The members had ecsne dressed as little girls and during the social hoar there was much enjoyment at this phase of Hie meeting. Mm. H. A. Palmer received most votes for the best costume. The hootesnes served block cream and cake. - The class will not meet again until the fall but planned a picnic during the sumffier. j Mr. Ml His Jones Entertain Club Members and HnilsiM Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Jones were boats Tuesday evening to the members of the Tuesday Afternoon Club and their Masses of summer flowers filled the rooms where small tables were placed for sapper which was served buffet style. The menu consisted of chicken salad, baked bam, staffed celery, picUe, sal tines, potato chips, hot biscuit, hot rolls, iced tea, Its cream and pound cake. Following,; sapper rook was in play for several boors. ' ladies’ prize, a Madera luncheon doth, was won by Mrs. L D. Isenhour and men’s prize, a tie, by Carl C. Culbreth. Guest prize, handkerchiefs, . went to Miss Louise Maultsby. In addition to the dub menfbers and their husbands guests were Mrs. Famish and Miss Maultsby. The dub will meet next with Mrs. C. H. Honoring Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hol land, ‘whose marriage was recently announced, the members of the force of Boses’ 5 and 10 Cent Store gave a weiner roast Wednesday evening. With three most attractive honor guests, Miss Julia Chaffin, who will be married during the summer, and Misses Jane Parker, of Macon, and Katherine Moseley, of Warrenton, her house guests, Miss Cornelia Atkins gave a beautiful party Saturday af ternoon. ’ '*-■ Masses of gladioli, snow balls, roses, and larkspur filled the spacious lower floor of the hpme. From a,beau tifully decorated punch bowl Misses Margaret Palmer and Elise Isaacson served refreshing punch to the guests upon their arrival. Ihllies were then passed and five tables of bridge were in play. High Score prise, handkerchiefs, was won by Miss Alma Stewart. To Mias Chaf fin the hostess gave a hand embroid ered luncheon set and to Misses Par ker and Moseley dainty handker chiefs. Following the games the players were joined by Mrs. W. W. Chaffin and MiSs Carrie Howard and all en joyed a number of beautiful readings by little Mias Gloria Stuart Camp, bell. The hostess served delicious ice cream and cake, the plates bring graced by sprays of sweet peas. Present were Misses Julia Chaffin, Jane Parker, Katherine Moseley, Alma Stewart, Camille Carroll, Louise Gil liam, Lena Mae Palmer, Lucile Sey mour, Barbara Kelly, Bernice Hunt, Margaret and Mary Scott Gurley, Margaret Daniel Reid, Helen Howard, Edith Makepeace, EKxabeth and Freda’ Strong, Emma Van Sant, and fran eina Wakefield. i Methodist Auxiliary. The Woman’s Auxiliary of Steele St. Church met Monday afternoon in the ladies’ parlor. The meeting was opened with a hymn followed by prayer by Mrs. S, T. Howard. There was the regular routine of roll call, minutes, and reports, follow ing which a life membership was pre sented Mrs. L. P. Wilkins by the Aiud Hary, the presentation being made by Mrs. D. C. Lawrence. The program for the afternoon was in charge of Circle 3. Mrs. Lawrence told of the work of the church in Brazil , and Mrs. T. L. Assisted by Misses Cornelia Atkins, Lttdle Seymour, Bar bars Kelly, and Mande Brown, the hostess served a salad course, iced tea, and chocolate cake. - To the strains of the wedding march from Lohengrin played by Mias Car roll, Miss Evelyn Bowers then descend ed the stairs dressed in an exquMte bridal costume and carrying a bouquet of sweet peas from which beautiful handkerchiefs bung on ribbon stream* era, forming a lovely shower for the bride-elect.
