8, 1936 "Ceiling Zero" Am Carolina Thea * "Ceiling Zero," thrilling drama ^ of commercial aviation, starring Pat O'Brian and James Cagney, j opens Thursday at the Carolina < Theatre, Wilmington. ! It is the story of three war! buddies who are thrown together * in commercial aviation. Cagney, O'Brien and Stuart Er- ( win have the roles of the three buddies. O'Brien is superinten- ( dent of flyers at a Western air- J port where Erwin is a pilot. Cag- ] ney is the most spectacular avi- ] ator of them all and Pat gets ] him to join their forces. i June Travis, a newcomer to the ; screen, has the leading feminine \ role, that of an air hostess. I Cagney is a devil with the la- ] dies and makes a play for the ] pretty hostess, although he knows she is engaged to a fellow pilot, j a part played by Henry Wadsworth. In order to keep an en- , gagement with the hostess, Cag- . ney gets his friend, Erwin, to take his run for him. Erwin does . so, runs into a terrific fog and is killed. , Cagney is completely broken , up, and when an order comes through to send Wadsworth out . in a terrific storm, he sees an ] opportunity to make amends. He knocks Wadsworth on the head in order tc save him for June, and makes the run himself, which he knows will result in certain death. Next Week Marlene Dietrich and GaryCooper are co-starred in Desire,' feature attraction at the Carolina , Theatre beginning Monday. Miss Dietrich, as a breath taking Continental beauty, is used by a gang of master crooks to purloin a costly string of pearls, and accomplishes the job with finesse. She asks a leading Parisian jeweler to deliver the pearls to her so-called husband, a famous psychiatrist. She then calls on the psychiatrist to ask him to examine the jeweler, whom she represents as her mentally deranged spouse. In the ensuing comedy of errors, she makoc riff urith tViP ipwpIq . f-cnAV.
