BASKETBALL
We played our third conference
game Friday night when the
Shallotte teams came over to
our gymnasium. Our girls lost
to the visitors with a score of
26-9," but our boys saved the
day by winning their game, 2114.
But Saturday night we were
defeated when the Southport boys
played the Y. M. C. A. at Wilmington.
The final score was 2623.
PROGRAMS
We had two chapel programs
last week. On Wednesday Mrs.
Richards' first grade gave a ]
patriotic program. I
On Friday, Mrs. Lingle's fourth
grade presented a Valentine program
which consisted of a song,
Mr. Postman; The Story of the
Pidgeon, two plays, "Writing Valentine,"
and a duet, "Will You be
my Valentine?"
VIS1TATIOX DAY
Last Wednesday was visitation
day in our school. Parents were
invited to come and go to school
with their children. Quite a few
people came.
At 3:30 that afternoon The
Parent-Teachers Association met
in the auditorium. The president,
Mrs. Carr, called the meeting to
order and opened the program
by reading the first Psalm. Mrs.
Price read the minutes of the
last meeting. The program chairman.
Mrs. Styron, turned the
meeting over to Mrs. Lingle, who
presented a play, "I'll Never Do
That Again". The cast was made
up of pupils from the fourth
through the seventh grades.
Next Mr. Lingle made a very
interesting talk on "Safety Education"
for Defense".
At the end of the program Mrs.
Carr called for reports from the
different committees. Miss Asbury's
first grade and Miss Butler's
ninth grade won the attendance
banners.
Parents and friends were then
invited upstairs to the library,
where Miss Stephenson and her
assistants served coffee and cookies.

a preliminary contest in our
