Waccamaw and Leland were engaged in a regular scheduled game at Waccamaw Friday night. The girls played the tilt first and Leland won with a score of 9 to 5. Southport Splits With Shallotte J Local Lads Nose Out Visit ors While Girls Drop En counters To Shallotte Sextet Friday Night Southport divided a double bill with Shallotte high cagers here Fr Jay night, the local boys taking a close 17 to 13 contest after the visiting lassies had walked off with a 21 to 14 ver dict in the curtain raiser. Leonard led Shallotte to vic tory in the curtain raiser. Leonard led Shallotte to vic tory in the ope ling game with a total of 14 points. Hickman led Southport vith 6 points for the evening. The boys game was a low scoring encounter throughout, with Shallotte accounting for but a single field goal . during the first half. The pace picked up for both teams during the third a score of 16 to 10. During the half a spectator, said to be from Old Dock in Columbus county, a few miles from the Waccamaw school, is reported to have lost his temper at the rooting support that Le land spectators were giving their team. The chip on his shoulder was promptly knocked off and something in the nature of a free for all fight was quickly underway among the spectators. The ladies, both among the spectators and those constituting the girls teams, were badly frightened and the last half of the game had to be called off. Most of the spectators and some of the players had left the gym nasium before the fight ended. Coach Womble said that there was not the least trouble or dis pute among his players. Prin cipal Denning said the same thing with regard to Waccamaw. The unfortunate occurrence originated among and was handled entirely by spectators. Double Victory For Independents Bolivia All-Staro Turn Back i Threat Of Shallotte In Contests Played Friday Night Led in scoring by G. C. Hick man, who chalked up 24 points, the Bolivia boys all-star team chalked up a 70 to 12 victory over Shallotte Friday night. Bo livia's first team men who saw action were Charlie Taylor, G. C. Hickman, Rotha Hickman, Harlee Mills, Albert McKeithan, Robert Burris and Milton Kurrell. There was no available report of the names of the Shallotte boys who opposed them. Led by their manager, Cath erine Stone, and West, the Bo livia girls marked up an eight or nine point win over Shallotte. This game was closer all the way until near the end when Bolivia overcame the good early lead made by Shallotte. The Bo livia girls playing were Catherine Stone, G. Hickman, J. Lewis, G. Danford, E. Willetts and West. Shallotte Myrtle Boyd, Gladys Mintz, Vertilee Bennett, Emma Neil Pierce, Kathleen Moore and Marie Spivey.
