The Winnabow Home Demon
stration Club met with Mrs. Gil
bert Reid Thursday. In the ab
sence of the president Mrs. Reid,
vice-president, called the meeting
to order. Following the singing
of "America the Beautiful," the
Collect was given and the Secre
tary, Miss Josie Reid, made the
roll call and gave the financial
report.
The matter of the flower show
to be held in June was brought
up. Garden leaders made a report
on various Items. Miss Reid read |

appetizing refreshments.

The Shallotte Village Home
Demonstration Club met with
Mrs. Earl Hewett for the Feb
ruary meeting. Mrs. Hewett call
ed the meeting to order. The
Collect of the Club Women of
America was repeated and "Am
erica the Beautiful," was sung.
The roll was called by Mrs. W.
K. Usher, the secretary. Minutes
of the last meeting were read
and approved.
Money was collected for the
new books. Meeting places and
project leaders for the year were
appointed and Miss Corrlne
Greene, the home agent, led an
interesting discussion on the care
of milk in the home.
Ten games of bingo were play
ed with the prize going to Miss
Greene as the high scorer.
Cake and coffee were served
the following members: Mrs.

teresting talk on how to manage
and when to plant garden and
shrubbery. Miss Greene gave as

Tyson C. Peterson, navy vete
ran of Winnabow, has enlisted In
the Army at the Wilmington Re
cruiting office for assignment to
the Corps of Engineers and was
given the grade of Corporal. Two
other recent enlistments were
Donald L. Hewett of Shallotte'
and Nathaniel Hill of Leland.
These are non-veterans. Hewette
went with the Coast Artillery!
Corps and Hill was assigned to
the Air Forces.
