A V shaped crotch is generally weaker than a U-shaped one, according to Urban L. Throm, of The Davey Tree Expert Co. Best indication is a thickening growth at the crotch, reflecting nature's attempt to compensate for the weakness. Usually freak egg stories are about the large-sized outputs, but tljis concern midgets. E. J. Buck, a machinist at Braxton Auto Parts, who resides three miles west of New Hope, I would have no objection to a i four-pound hen turning out a' four-ounce egg, but when an eight-pound fowl starts produc ing half-ounce eggs, it's time to complain. Mr. Buck's prize hen did it twice on consecutive days last week. He brought the eggs, which are about the length of a pecon and much smaller around, to Hie News Reporter to prove he was n't stretching the truth. J.
