BIRTHDAY DINNER Sunday, February 29, was a day of general congratulations for E. D. Stanaland of Shallotte township, who was 76-years-old that day. It really was only his 17th birthday, as he was born on| leap years February 29th. C. bountiful repast was served. Among the guests present were six of Mr. Stanaland's nine child ren. These were, Mrs. Ernest Smith, Mrs. Vance Long, Mrs. John Ransom, W. E. Stanaland, S. D. Stanaland and J. C. Stana land. The other three sons and daughters were unavoidably pre vented from being present. Daughters-in-law and sons-in law present were Mrs. W. E. Stanaland, Mrs. S. D. Stanaland, Mrs. J. C. Stanaland, John Ran som and Ernest Smith. Only 8 of the 20 grandchildren were pre sent. These were, Lina Mae, Par ker, Dean, Douglas, David and Marilyn Stanaland; Otis and Peggy Leonard. Relatives present included two sisters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rob inson and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Caison. Other relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Pat Ray and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bennett and daughter, Harriet! Mrs. Walter Stanaland and son and daughter, Darius and Elneta, Mr. and Mrs. Relmond Robinson, Mrs. Lum An drews and Norma Robinson. The day was a most happy one for the honoree and all attending the birthday dinner. CHEERS^SESSOMS Mr. and Mrs. Roney Cheers of Shallotte announce the marriage of their daughter, Audrey Elena, ,to Lester Earl Sessoms, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Sessoms, of Leland. The marriage took place on February 13 in Conway, S. C. The couple are making their home in Leland. MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER Miss Lois Catherine Sellers of Supply, whose marriage to Her bert Morgan, Jr., will take place the evening of March 29th, was honored at a miscellaneous show er Thursday evening by her sis jters, Misses Avis and Helen Sel lers. I The home was beautifully de [corated for the occasion with spring flowers. The bride-elect was presented with a corsage of white carnations. Later she was the recipient of a number of gifts from the guests. Games were played and prizes were awarded to Mrs. H. D. Rob inson and Mrs. H. T. Sellers. Cookies, drinks and ice cream were served to approximately 45 guests who were invited to the shower. PERSONALS Mrs. E. V. J., where he spent the week end. Coming via Wallace he will bring with him a 16-ton bulldozer for use in his land clearing operations. F. J. Williams and Carl H. Bailey of the Navy Section Base are being transferred. Their wives will remain here with their mother, Mrs.' Archie Evans, for the present. Ed Harrelson, Bobby Jones and i Hoyle Dosher, students at Uni versity of North Carolina, spent the week end here with their folks. Mrs. L. D. Hayman has been visiting her daughter in Conway for the past week. The Rev. FAMILY RETURN'S His release from the Coast Guard service coming slower than he had expected. Commander and Mrs. Roy Robinson and Mrs. Rob inson's mother, Mrs. Viola Gu therie, returned here last week from the West Coast. It may be some months yet before Com mander Robinson gets his final release. Meanwhile, he will be identified with Coast Guard op erations from Southport to Nor folk.
