VERY DRY AREAS Most of Smithvllle and Lock woods Folly townships have been practically without rain for two months. Only an occasional light shower has fallen in these town ships during that time. While Shallotte has had little rain, the Longwood section only seven miles away had big rains on five successive days last week. COLORED CITIZEN DIES Fred Burney, well known and respected resident of Lanvale community was 54 .years of age. Funeral services were conducted Sunday aft<('-noon at 2 o'clock at St. James church in Snow Field. Burney is survived by his wife, 8 children, 2 grandchildren 1 bro ther and 2 sisters. FOUR ENLIST Two veterans and two non-vet erans from Brunswick enlisted In the Army at the Wilmington Recruiting office this past week. Henry G. Coley, veteran of South port, went with the 2nd Armored Division and Pfc. Walter F. Spencer of Bolivia, also a vete ran, was assigned to the Euro pean Command. The two non-vet erans were Herbert F.
