Mrs. Rifton Sellers and the hon Mrs. Danford Is Hostess To Club The Mill Creek Home Demon-1 stration Club met at the home of Mrs. Jewell Danford for its Feb ruary meeting. i In the absence of the presi dent Miss Corinne Green opened the meeting by having members sing "America". The collect of club women of America was then repeated, after which the secre tary called the roll and read the minutes of the last meeting. Business was then attended to. Mrs. Myrtle Atkinson gave a very interesting talk on poultry and eggs and Mrs. Vera Bowling gave a talk on gardening notes. Miss Green gave a talk on "Take time to be a good citizen". The recreation hour was then enjoyed by all. Refreshments were served by the hostess, after which the Club adjourned to meet with Mrs. Helen Hufham in March. Mrs. Reil Hostess To Winnabow Club ? The Winnabow Home Demon stration Club met with Mrs. G. T. Reid on Thursday afternoon, January 20. The president, Mrs. Reid, call ed the meeting to order. The song, "We Believe in Our State",, was sung, and the collect was repeated. The ?roll call responses were given with household hints. Miss Corinne Green distributed the year books, for 1949. She ex plained how the books are to be used and members filled out the books with the years work, i Eight members were present and one new member joined the club: Mrs. Julia E. Swain, Mrs. J. M. The club adjourned to meet with Miss Josie Reid in February. High Times BT CHEERS LEADERS Although they have had their share of defeats our Southport | basketball teams are going after the tournament championship. We. want them to know that we are! behind theni in this effort. It seems that the whole town thinks that the teams can win this year and both teams just have to make j good to justify the confidence the i public has in them. We are even [going to have mascots, although it has not yet been fully decided j who these small assistant cheer | leaders will be. Claudie Webb and j I Butchie Harrelson are promising prospects. We plan to let them | j help when we walk off with the J trophies. If ycu do not already know it, I this is to say that our school I plans to really have a band next I year. Like all school bands we ; must have majorettes. Friday | during Glee Club practice we lected eight majorettes with Mr. \ Stevenenson's help. If you are anxious to know who these band j majorettes are to be we'll tell | you. They are Catherine McRack |an, Rebecca McRackan, Linda Hickman, Gloria Hewett, Janice | Swan, Elizabeth Lupton, Latitia ; Hickman and Harriet Corlette. I Everybody has a cordial invita tion to enjoy the ham dinner which will be served on Friday from 5 o'clock to 7:30 o'clocJCrjn the high school lunchroom.
