Back again this week to tell! you the news around Bolivia high, j We didn't have much news! last week and it seems as though! some of the high school students | took that seriously because this j I week there is plenty. Seen around enjoying school this week were, Patsy Caison, sitting in the back of the ninth grand room in English class, Flossie Faulk and Harriet Yount, headed for Wilmington, dressed like millionairs. The eighth grade had a wonder-1 ful time at the weiner roast that j they gave last Tuesday night at | the high schook gym. Those seen J enjoying the gala occasion were j Rillie Jane Caison, June Gray, i Sylvia Leonard and Virginia | Long. Polly Lewis was also hav ing a good time. There was a terrific buzz around Bolivia high Thursday morning. When we inquired to see what was wrong, the news was really thrilling. Bolivia had whipped Southport in the Y.M.C. A. basketball tournament Wed nesday night. We really have good ball teams at Bolivia. The girls played ball Wednesday night as j they have never played before. We're really proud of our teams. ] Bolivia boys tea?'.; v:or. over t'le Clarkton quint with the fmai | scores 24 to 20 in favor of Bolivia at the Y.M.C.A. tournament Vyeit- j nesday night. It was the tourney's J seventh game. Hugh Danford, a sharp shooting forward for Bolivia sparked his team to the win by scoHng three field goals in the final quarter of play. Danford and Lindsey Walton were the leading scorers for the winners, each hitting the basket for eight points. Last Wednesday brought disap pointment to some of the high school students. What we mean is that the report cards came out that day. Everybody that didn't pass a subject for this six weeks was wondering if they deserved the low grades they got and beleive us, there was a lot of wondering going on! We have had an extra treat at the lunchroom everyday this week. Mrs. Yount carried an electric radio over to the lunch room so we could lister to the music while we ate dinner. That was very thoughtful, Mrs. Yount, so keep the good work up. We are very fortunate to have a per son like Mrs. Yount to run our lunchroom. She's really doing a grand job at the lunchroom. Well, Folks, this is about all we have for now; so be looking for us next week! The slow-growing yew tree is found so often in England be cause it was once the prized wood used in making bows. Southport's trip to the finals was over the rough route of two Brunswick county opponents who refused to be easy. Shallotte was the Thurs day opponent, and was was only during the final quarter that j Southport widened the gap for their 35-25 decision. A third Brunswick county team in Friday night's semi-finals was Leland, whose girls put up a game scrap against the championship Elizabethtown sextet before losing 40 to 19. This was the first loss of the season for the Northwest township lassies, who had defeat ed Long Creek-Grady the night before. Long Creek had eliminated Shallotte in opening round play. In addition to the champion | ship trophy for the Southport boys two of their players, Tommy Bowmer and Richard Brendle, made the all-tournament team.
