on Wednesday evening, June 22,
at her home . in Shallotte
at a miscellaneous shower hon
oring Miss Lois Formy-Duval,
bride-elect of July 6. The home
was beautifully decorated through
out with mixed summer flowers.
During the evening contests
were enjoyed by the guests, prizes
being won by Miss Formy-Duval,
honoree, and Mrs. Harold Milliken.
The refreshment table was laid
with a lace cloth centered with
a tall vase of pink gladioli. Punch,
sheet cakes and mints were ser
ved by the hostess assisted by
Miss Mary Milliken.
The honoree was the recipient
of many lovely and useful gifts.

HERE ON VISIT
Mr. and Mrs. Sasa Fodale and
daughter, Miss Rose Fodale, of
Boston, are here for a two weeks
visit with the family of their son
and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Fodale. The elder Mr. Fodale is
a pioneer in the shrimping in
dustry at Southport. He operated
a house here for many years.
His son took over with the busi
ness a number of years ago.
BIG LITTER
Twelve Poland-China pigs were
farrowed last week by a young
sow owned by Willard H. Red
wine of Shallotte. This is a good
record for a first litter. With only
11 fountains from which to nour-1
ish her brood, the sow is said to
be doing well with her family by |
setting a second table. The pigs j
are now ten days old and all bid
fair to live and thrive.
