This name is often lengthened, as a pot name, to Ruthie. This way it is made to conform to a sug gestion set forth in another an cient book, the Brahman Code of Manu that was the Law for many million people in India. There is says that a woman's name ought to end in a long vowel. Did the venerable law maker believe that a girl should have a name which ; could be sounded all over the j house whenever hubby wanted his ! dinner or a pair of socks he had | mislaid?? That's just a guss. ? In| any case, vowels at the end of a' name are excellent for making .? your name heard far and wide, i if someone yells it at the top of j his voice.
