The Rev. Thomas G. Cleveland, assisted by the Rev. Mark Owens, officiated at the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Mc Pherson Burdette, Jr., of Southport. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Howard J. She wore I a deep pink crepe pantdress | with wedding band collar, j empire bodice and overskirt highlighted with pink braid. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Fred M. Burdette, III, of New York, N.Y., Mrs. John W. Burdette of Wilmington, both sisters-in-law of the bride, Mrs. William G. Blount of Greenville and Mrs. Fred F. Bahnson of Chapel Hill. They also wore pink crepe pant , dresses. ' Peter L. Navins of Byfield, Mass, was best man. Ushers wre John B. Shevlin, Jr., of Wakefield, Mass., Andrew J. McElaney, Jr. of Quincy, Mass., John R. Tatum of Old Lyme, Conn., Gordon D. Gee of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Dr. Fred M. Burdette, HI, of New York, N.Y., a brother of the bride. Miss Mariana Burdette of New York, N.Y., was flower girl. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The couple will be at home at Magnolia House, Apt. 28 in Beverly, Mass, where the bridegroom practices law. The bride attended Salem College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a member of the Spinster’s Club. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white angel skin and silk organza dress with a fitted lace bodice, long sleeves, and . full skirt accented with sequins and bows. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was attached to an organza bow. She carried a bouquet of white roses, baby’s breath, and daisies with an orchid. On her right hand the bride wore her great grand mother’s wedding band. Miss Marion Watson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Mrs. Romulus Henry Llewellyn of Greensboro, sister of the groom, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jill Watson Clark of Southport, sister of the bride; Susan Watson Brecht of Wright sville Beach, sister of the bride; Dawn Murchison of Charlotte; and Mary Earleen Mabry of Charlotte. All at tendants wore pink peasant dresses with fitted bodices and long sleeves and wore pink straw hats. They carried bouquets of pink roses and daisies. The father of the groom was best man. Ushers were William Grady Roberson, brother of the groom, of Atlanta; David Wheeler Whitlock of Charlotte; David Whitehurst Watson, Jr.; brother of the bride from' Charlotte; Thomas Alston Watson, brother of the bride, -—.. .... ..inn wnrnrniHmmmmmmmm Mrs. Jerry Watts Roberson from Southport; Carlyn Ed Griffin, of Charlotte; and Romulus Henry Lewellyn, of Greensboro. Immediately following the wedding, a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. The newlyweds left on a trip to Miami and Nassau. They will return and live in Charlotte at 7414 Fox Hunt Drive. The bridesmaids luncheon was held Saturday at the Gray Gables Inn. It was given by the bride’s three sisters Susan Brecht, Jill Clark, and Marion Watson, 24 guests attended. A shrimparoo was held at the Wrightsville Beach Firemen’s Club after the rehearsal. One hundred guests were invited. Prior to the ceremony a champagne breakfast was held at the Wrightsville Beach Holiday Inn. Members of the wedding party and out of-town guest attended. It was hosted by Mrs. Walter Watts Roberson of Wilson and Mrs. Romulus Henry Llewellyn of Greensboro. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David W. Watson of Wrightsville Beach. She graduated from UNC-Charlotte where she is currently enrolled in graduate school. She teaches languages arts and social studies at Coulwood Junior High in Charlotte. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Watts Roberson of Wilson. He at tended Oak Ridge Military Academy, Campbell College, and Atlantic Christian College. He is employed as a real estate broker by the Ervin Co. in Charlotte.
