The State Port Pilot SCHOOLS GRADUATIONS Four graduated from ECSU Four people from Brunswick County were awarded degrees during the spring commencement ceremony at Elizabeth City State University. Erica Price of Southport was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in sociol ogy and social work. James T. King, Jr., of Leland and Larona F. Johnson both received bachelor of science degrees in business administration. Ellis Freeman of Ash earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science. Science and math graduates Christine Cowan of Boiling Spring Lakes and Nancy McGee of Supply wore among 245 graduates at the N. C. School of Science and Mathe matics. Cowan is the daughter of Curtis and Judy Cowan. She is a former South Brunswick High School student. McGee, a former West Brunswick High School student, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick G. McGee. Graduates from Cape Fear Brunswick County residents were among graduates at spring quarter commencement exercises for Cape Fear Community College. Graduates and their degrees are: Susan B. Mason and Carolyn L. Peters, both of Long Beach, Regina A. Speight, Deborah K. Royal and Gwendolyn D. Babson of Leland and Shannon R. Bardin of Shallotte, as sociate degree nursing; Sherri Potter, Paulette S. McClelland, Ginger L. Black and Leslie C. Davis, all of Leland, child care worker, Shalcen E. Brady of Leland, criminal justice/public service technology; Carol S. Jones, Elizabeth R. Hcwctt, Priscilla G. Gressel and Janice Brown ol Leland, Rogers Grissctt of Shallotte, Nathan E. Hewitt of Supply, busi ness administration; Angela D. Butler of Leland, instrumentation technol ogy; Ruby Casanova of Winnabow, chemical technology; Eileen T. Ericksen of Ocean Isle Beach, paralegal technology; Karen E. Garvy of Leland, ac counting; Suzanne M. Henry of Leland, computer engineering technology; Alton L. Raynor, Jr., Scott A. Maultsby of Bolivia, Charles A. Justice of Winnabow, mechanical drafting and design technology; Mitch Lanier of Leland, advanced machinist. County graduates at UNCC Four Brunswick County residents earned degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. They arc Christopher Milligan of Leland, bachelor of arts in English; Ronald R. Pridgen of Winnabow, bachelor of science in electrical engineering technology; Sharon A. Bryant of Shallotte, master’s degree in counseling and guidance; and Heather 1. Smith of Shallotte, bachelor of arts degree in elementary education. Rohde gets business degree Dawn L. Rohde of Long Beach was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Lenoir-Rhyne College. She is the daughter of Michael and Carol Rohde. ir Fifty-six Southport Elementary School first grade students joined the 100 Book Club. Sholar of Leland (left) was the 5,000th student to graduate from Southeastern Community College. His associate degree in forest management technology was presented by Dr. Steve Scott, SCC president, and Billy Hooks, board of trustees chairman. Student is 5,000th SCC grad James C. Sholar of Leland was honored as the 5,000th graduate from Southeastern Community Col lege during the spring commencement ceremony. A candidate for the associate in applied science de gree in forest management technology, Sholar was awarded a commemorative plaque. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Sholar of Leland. Sandra F. Duran of Shalloltc and Melanie B. Long of Ash were recognized as honor graduates who had per fect 4.0 grade point averages. Duran received a degree in music and Long a degree in general curriculum. Southport resident Joy E. Knotts received a degree in the general curriculum program. She was an honor graduate with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. Other graduates from Brunswick County, and their degrees, include: from Ocean Isle Beach, Sharon K. Roberge, associate in nursing, Sharon P. Carter, prctcaching in elementary education, and Tracy A. Spencer, music; and from Shallotte, Sherlyn A. Ford, early childhood associate, Jessica S. Home, associate in nursing, Sarah A. Parker, criminal justicc/protective service technology, Mary E. Ridgeway, busi ness/computer programming, James D. Sugg, practical nursing. Teresa P. Carbary and Dorothy D. Locklear, both of Supply, were recognized for completing their GED, or high school equivalency degree. South Middle honors are listed South Brunswick Middle School has announced its honor roll for the fifth six-week grading period. To be eligible for the Honor Roll, a student must maintain a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale while maintaining the status of "student in good standing" with the school.
